2011 already!

Sorry Moira, tax is sometimes taxing ..

It's that time of year again, when I wonder what made me give up being a full-time employee 12 years ago, and miss those halcyon days when I never had to worry about filling in tax returns because there was a whole payroll department taking care of it.
Felt a bit pleased with myself for actually logging on and starting the self assessment before the 30th Jan for a change, but it was shortlived when I realised I haven't a clue where our P60s are, and even though our bank interest was probably no more than a tenner I can't find proof of it anywhere.

Spring on it's way? ..

So we're back from the spa, and have put our newly pummeled and toned (!) bodies into good use by having a big move around in the shop.  Which unveiled a lot of spring cleaning to do too :O  (Cobwebs the size of small hammocks.. and whoever thought dried hops along the tops of shelves were a good idea clearly wasn't someone who'd ever had to move them from one place to another.)  But it all looks very nice now, and has given us a lot more space for all the stock that should be arriving over the next few weeks - more cards, books, fruit wines, new local beers and spring-inspired gifts.

Happy New Us!

Spot the salt-scrubbed, manicured and glowing members of staff in the shop when some of us return from a spa break next week!  Taking advantage of the quiet month to get some post-Christmas r & r, maybe it will prompt us into losing a few chocolate-induced pounds too.  There's too much to tempt us around here - double chocolate brandy liqueur (which tastes fab when sloshed into a mug of coffee!), rich, spicy red wines and fresh, bubbly proseccos, cavas and award-winning Kentish fizz too.

Ouch.  It seems 20% off the jewellery wasn't enough for a passing scallywag last night, as they decided to smash through the glass doors and nick all the jewellery stock plus some silk handbags to tote it all away in (hmm, obviously a better class of burgler - not the usual choice of swag-bag), as well as the charity box, the till and what float was in it.  The butchers were targeted too - watch out for scallies trying to flog cheap meat in the Faversham area!! So glass everywhere, cold winds whistling through the hole in the door, insurance company trying it's hardest to wriggle out of any liability.  The landlords and the police have been helpful, but not the best Monday morning we've ever had.  Oh well, things can only get better!

A Happy New Year from all of us at TTP

So 2011 is here already and I'd barely got used to writing 2010 on the cheques!  Hope you all had a brilliant Christmas, white or not.  The snow that came down thick and even a week before in East Kent had just about gone by the 25th, all that was left was a mucky, gritty pile in the car park.  The 25th dawned foggy and damp, but the sun shone so brightly on the 26th that the Tiddly Pomme dog celebrated his fourth birthday with a Boxing Day dip in the sea.
