Based in a converted cowshed (nicer than it sounds) at Brogdale Farm on the outskirts of Faversham, a lovely historical market town on the Kent coast just a few miles from the beautiful cathedral city of Canterbury and the fishing port of Whitstable.
We are the drinks specialists on site, stocking (and producing) our own apple and pear ciders, plus other locally produced ciders, perrys, ales and beers, as well as a range of wines, spirits and liqueurs from Kent, other parts of the UK, and around the world.
We also have a fabulous selection of unusual gifts, prints, cards and books, plus locally produced foods including Brogdale jams and chutneys, Kentish oils and honey.
Faversham is home to Shepherd Neame, the country's oldest brewery, plus Thames barges, flea markets and a growing arts and crafts community, with regular local produce, arts and crafts markets. With fast rail links from London St. Pancras and Victoria only an hour away, trains are direct to Faversham and we are a 20 minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride from the station. Courtesy buses run from the station on the Cider and Apple Festival weekends.
Check out www.faversham.org for more info about visiting our lovely part of Kent!
Brogdale has been the home of the UK's National Fruit Collections, the largest single collection of fruit tree and plant varieties in the world, since the early 1950s. Guided walks take place from late March through to early November taking in blossom time and all the different fruiting seasons from early cherries in May to late apples in October, through plums, gages, soft fruits, nuts, pears and quinces. There is a miniature railway on site which runs on Sundays from March to Christmas, as well as some other festival days (with Santa Specials running in December). Ride up to the orchards, have a wander, and get a later one back!
There is a full programme of events and festivals throughout the fruit season. Large festivals and events have an entry fee, but you never have to pay to come into the marketplace to visit us.
